Steep dangled above the steaming, scary cup. Every morning, tea bags dropped and turned gold. Steep watched the steam rise, and shivered.
A hand lowered him toward the swirling cup. He yanked back up, a few drops flew. The other bags steeped rich, fragrant without him.
Too afraid to jump, he stayed dry, dull. The cup cooled pale, waiting, and forgot him. One steeped sibling swirled past, glowing amber warm.
His string trembled above the steam, one time. He let go, and swirled into warm gold. Warm gold bloomed around him, curling soft sweet.
Now Steep makes the coziest cup of all.
