His wings knew the sky, not the deep. One by one, most siblings vanished into blue. Pip stepped back again and again.
Pip alone stayed behind that night. Hungry and scared, he watched the black water. At dawn, a small cry cut the wind.
His littlest sister was caught in waves. Pip did not think, he simply dove. In the water he was fast, and free.
