Echo and Her Own True Words
Echo could only ever repeat what others shouted into the canyon, never a word of her very own. A gentle bedtime story about being left alone at dusk, a lost child calling into the dark, and the first true words Echo ever spoke. For every little one still finding their own voice.
Echo could only say what others said first. Deep red canyons rose beneath a dusk sky. Travelers shouted just to hear her voice return.
They laughed and left, the canyon fell quiet. Alone, she had no words of her own. Stars filled the sky, and no one called.
A small child wandered lost, calling a name. No one answered as the name faded away. Echo almost repeated the frightened, crying words.
Instead of repeating, she spoke something true. This way, follow me, Echo finally called out. The child followed her voice through the dark.
Her first real words were simply, follow me.
