Zip was the fastest thing in the desert. His friend Tuck was the very slowest. Zip zoomed ahead, leaving Tuck far behind.
Hurry up, he called, never looking back. One day they set out for the oasis. Zip raced there first, and waited, and waited.
The cool water was no fun all alone. He had left his only friend behind again. So Zip went back and walked beside Tuck.
And saw a beetle and a bloom. Wonders he had always rushed straight past. They reached the oasis together, at last.
Now Zip walks slow and sees the desert.
