Ripple Says Sorry
Ripple only meant to play, but one big jump flattens a childs sandcastle and empties the whole beach. One big jump toppled the whole castle. The child cried, and a parent came close. Ripple curled small, ashamed of her big jump.
Sorry is the hardest word the sea knows. All night, she gathered shells and sea glass. A starfish helped her collect some treasures.
Before dawn, she built a whole new castle. So she said it with shells instead. Ripple waited far out, too shy to return.
The child returned and gasped at the castle. Ripple bowed small and soft at her feet. The child ran in, splashing and hugging her.
The sea and child built the next one.
