Archie was a small stone bridge who doubted he was strong enough to hold anyone, while a grand iron bridge gleamed downstream. A gentle bedtime story about self-doubt, a flood that changed everything, and the quiet strength small ones carry. For every little one afraid they are not enough.
Archie feared he was too small to hold. Downstream, a grand iron bridge gleamed proudly. Travelers always chose the taller, shinier bridge instead.
One day, a traveler stepped onto Archie alone. A small stone shook loose, the traveler fled. He worried he might crumble and fail.
Seasons passed, moss grew thick and unused. Then dark clouds gathered, and the river rose. The grand iron bridge buckled under the flood.
A flood came, and the town crossed him. Archie held firm while the water roared below. One by one, neighbors reached the far side.
The little bridge carried them safely across.
